Essentials for when you’re sick

It’s that time of the year where everyone around you is sick and it’s only a matter of time before you get sick.

There’s always those people that say, “I never get sick”. That’s me. Well, I’ve been fighting a virus for the past week and I hope I never get sick again. I’ve been drinking cough syrup clinging to a Kleenex box that I stole from my roommate all week.

Basically, my week was torture and I may or may not have thought I was gonna die. I’m so dramatic. I know. But that’s honestly how I felt!

I decided to make a list of things that I couldn’t live without this the past week:

  • Chamomile Tea

There are so many health benefits to drinking chamomile tea: promotes sleep, soothes your stomach aches, and has an antibacterial agent. I used to drink this tea growing up and it always reminds me of being home with my mom scratching my back because I didn’t feel good. Growing up sucks.

  • Organic Raw Unfiltered Honey

Raw honey is collected straight from the hive. It is not heated or processed in anyway. I try to take a spoonful of this whenever my throat is sore or if I have a simple cold. Also, whenever I make a cup of tea, I always put a lot of honey in.

  • Essential Oils

My mom LOVES essential oils. I don’t think there has ever been a time when we were in Whole Foods and didn’t stop to look at their selection of oils. My mom swears that essential oils can cure anything from a bug bite to a migraine, etc. So you would have to assume I would have some essential oils for when you’re sick. The ones I like to use when I’m sick are peppermint and eucalyptus.

I know this first blog post isn’t as “glamorous” as I would’ve liked. But sometimes things, honestly, don’t go as planned and I sure didn’t plan on being sick.

Sometimes we are constantly moving and have too many things on our plate. I tend to throw myself into too many things and I don’t allow myself to relax.  Getting sick really allowed me to sit back and focus on my health.

I’m ready to get back to my busy schedule.

Even though it doesn’t look like I’m sick, I assure you, I definitely thought I was dying.
